Exact species unknown, but I've been seeing albino bichirs for sale from various sellers on Aquabid. Do these guys get as large as their wild counterparts?

And can anyone recommend any good bichir books? I think Jurassic Fish is out of print, and I don't know how good the Aqualog book is; they tend to be all right for pictures and less actual info.

You don't need the book. Just ask here in the bichir section. More info and more bichir variants. The books seems outdated. Example the pics shown of the p. bichir bichir was actually a p. lapradei. I know albino sene also occur in the wild but never seen one myself. Wild caught grow bigger than their captive breed counterpart, depend on the gene of the fish. Also from the owner on how much nutrition from the food it's getting and how often does it eat. water quality aslo affect their growth.

A).Generally they are CB Polypterus senegalus and no they seem to max out slightly smaller.

is outdated and copies are epensive (if you can find them) and the Aqualog book
while good at identifying species lacks hobbyist care info but has lots O pics.

here in this forum,Be sure to read the info in the stickie section theres information
there you'll never find elsewhere-Anne
