Bichir staying on top of aquarium

My bichir always stays at top that's getting annoying
I guess coz of the shade behind the powerhead
Never comes down
What can I do?

Funny enough I have a Delhezi that does the same .. No idea why but the others stay near the substrate

Is it a younger bichir? Juveniles will tend to hang out near the top, especially when there is shelter. They'll usually stop doing this after growing out a bit.

How big is it? I know when they’re very small they do that?

Yes guys it's pretty small nearly 4 inches

Should be fine and start coming down soon, if it’s on pellets, just don’t use the floating type

It’s just doing what they’ve been doing for millions of years. As long as it’s not floating upside down at the top of the tank, nothing to worry about.
