Need advise with Bichir transport, I'm going to get a 16 inch bichir this Saturday, its going to be about 2-3 hours travel time, what would i need?
Would it be better to bag the bichir? or put it in a large rubbermaid container?
I could bag it, but I don't have oxygen tank, hopw long can the bichir last?
any tips on how to make it more comfortable?

I haven't packed that big a poly... But have managed juvies bagged for upto 18hrs... Oxygen is a must IMO... You could take it to a LFS where they can pack it for ya... This is what I've done...

Get a sterlite 20 gallon container (walmart or target at about 6-$8). Use aquarium water, add some prime, add a air bubbler, & ask the seller not to feed the bichir if possible. Do not put a bichir that size in a bag. Not necessary. I recently transported bichirs 12+ hours like this, no problem.Good luck.

when i got my arowana at the time it was 14" i put him in a large cooler put an air hose in there. i think that worked out great. you can buy battery powered aquarium air pumps, or if you have or get a DC to AC power inverter then you can just plug in your normal air pump. i used a power inverter and then i just used an extra air pump that i had laying around. it worked great.
hope this helps

i transported my arowana 2 hrs this way^
i transport all of my fish this way and i'v never had a problem

Big plastic bin, little water, that's about it. Make sure it is covered because the love to jump. They breathe air so no worries about that,

So oxygen is not all that important? I thought if they breathing air from the bag then they need it....
Thanks y'all this was helpful for me too...
