My bichir has had a lump on his back. And he is swimming like he is very uncomfortable. I'm not sure what's causing the lump or how to help him out. Any ideas???

Can u post pics and water parameters. Also tankamtes and tank with gravel or sand?

Does it increase in size when Eating? Snails in the tank? Acting normal?

This is seen in Senegalus that are captive bred. Would control and limit feedings to every other day.

No it's stays the same with eating. And my boyfriend puts food in the tank every night as there are other carnivorous fish. As far as I know we have no snails in the tank but we do have a sucker fish. He acts as if he is struggling to swim and his butt end floats upwards as he swims.

Could be trapped air. Would add some Epsom salt at 1tbsp per 5g. This will alleviate potential air trapping. Safe for most fish.
