i have searched around here and other places and i am not finding too much info. there is a post where bebondie lists this fish as a potential tankmate for bichirs, but i wonder if that was just generalized based on size. has anyone actually had Acanthicus Adonis in a tank with bichirs? will it suck the slime coat?

Cactus type plecos are carnivore and prefer to eat meaty foods. I had an adonis and hystrix before and they do fine with bichirs however these two plecos grows very large and need bigger tank as the body is wide and long. The plecos that are safe with bichirs are meat eaters and wood eaters. Stay aways from algae eaters as they have the potential to eat slime coat. Although some dont, but most are. Just to be on the safe side. Stay away from sailfin plecos and common plecos. Many people says here that they mix common plecos with ganoid scaled fish, but infact they actually have the gold spot pleco that looks very similar to a common pleco and also being sold as common pleco. They are also safe with bichirs.

thanks for the reply. i have avoided plecos because of my concern with housing them with my bichirs but i thought this species would be ok and i found a good looking one. thanks again.
