Bichir with Devil

Hello,
Is there any way I could add a bichir the same size as my red devil (5") to his tank without the bichir being killed?
Id really like a bichir, and the devil hasn't touched any of the 3" rainbows in with him.

My red devil gets along fine with my bottom dwellers. The onluytime I had an issue was when one tried to come in the devils hiding spot. Other than that, no issues

Tank mates are always up to the temperament of individual fish. My bichir was allowed in my trimac tank, however my RD wanted no parts of any one else in his tank.
