bichir with large snail

Can I put large snail ... mystery or apple not sure, maybe around golf ball size (maybe slightly smaller) ... with bichir? I don't know how long ... maybe 41/2-5 inches maybe., will eat the snail or just bother/harass it?

That's a good question I don't think a bichir would bother a snail but not really sure.

The only issue I can see is if the bichir tries to eat it but can't pass the shell. At 5 inches it sounds like you're okay for a while but it depends on how big the bichirs mouth is i guess. I kept big ramshorns with my 8" sen in the past and I had no issues. He did eat the hell out of the snail eggs though!

The only thing my Bichir does to my snails is swim up to them and knock them off the wall or the castle. He's a big bully.

At that size you should be fine and with the bichir being that small it will grow up with the snail and learn that it's not good or that it can't even fit it in it's mouth. I don't think you'll have a problem.

I have a large mystery snail in my tank with 5 bichirs that range from 5-8 inches and have no issue at all. Neither of them know the other one is there

Yeah, the smaller species of bichirs (senegal, delhezi, and upper jaws I suppose) either don't notice the snails at all, or like to lock them off the tank walls for fun lol
