I purchased my first bichir (sengal) he's very small. He is about an inch long. He's in a 10 gal until he's a little bigger. He's in there alone. I had him for about 4 days. I know it's normal for him to float around but not eat? I tried blood worms, flake, guppy fry, and shrimp pellet. I'll get water stats when I get home. Is this normal?

Could very well be... My 3 bichirs ate the day I got them, but the smallest was already 4"... My Fahaka puffer, I got at about 1.5" and he didn't eat a thing for about 2-3 weeks. Now he doesn't stop begging for food. Give it time to acclimate to its new home and it will be fine.

Probably case of adjusting due to acclimating issues.. did u ensure the ph of the water was almost the same as that of the bagged fish..?? if so the fish would have no issue eating on the day itself.. otherwise it would be adjusting and probably wont eat.. also not advisable to get bichirs at one inch.. they are usually on the market at 2.5-3"
