So I started big tanks with African cichlids, then I found bichirs, I have an upper jaw 75 that is being moved into a 75 with senegals marbled and delhizi, with huge congo tetras upside down cats and some rope fish, LOVE LOVE LOVE the tank.
Love them so much I am selling off my African cichlid males to go a different direction with my 185.

What I need from this wonderful living poli think thank is what bichirs I should put in this tank and some large tank mates to try out.

I was thinking ornates and Oscars, I have a couple large pink tail chalceus that will likely be in this tank as well (or may sell them too) I will be selling my large school of 3-5 inch clown loaches as well, because they would be ornate food I am sure. There is a rhino pleco(10 in) in the tank that I may roll the dice with and if there are issues he will move to my planted 75 (love that guy)

Are there any other polys that come to mind other than the ornate and any other large fish that people could recommend (maybe a couple of redtail giant gouramis?)

Tank is 5ftx2ftx2.5 feet I know its an odd side but it was custom build for an old wood burning stove foot print.

The budget for the tank will be the created by the sell of the cichlids and loaches.

Any suggestions on plants that could survive this set up and have the size to fill out the height of this tank would be great.

Hardscape will be large drift wood and some large rocks form universal rocks and some dragon stone in the front for some added depth.

Thanks much

Also the reason I mention the Oscar and giant gouramis is they are like water puppies I am looking for fish with personality

I think a giant guarami would out grow the tank oscars could work but If you are looking for personality my male jack dempsey is very personal he chases my fingers around the glass and is very active also I just moved him in with my delhezis and no problems also in my opinion they look nicer than oscars
here is mine

how long do you think it would take the giant gourami's to outgrow it? I am looking at building a 600ish gallon tank in the basement 10ftx4ftx3 feetgive or take half a foot on the dimensions, gonna cost a ton, but I have the bug lol
