I have a few java ferns attached to drift wood , but I kinda wanted to try out some dwarf hair grass or another carpet plant but considering bichirs are bottom feeders would a carpet plant be a bad idea because it would be hard for them to find food?

Oh they'll find food just fine of course the the plantings might not do to well.Now if you were to hide a small bowl in the substrate and use it as a food bowl you might have a chance
