Bichirs eating other fish

If my smallest fish is a 2.5"-3" rainbowfish would it be safe to get an ornate bichir without it eating anything????

Eh, the Rainbows may become food at some point or another with an Ornate.

Nope...an Ornate would definitely make a meal of them once it gets big enough. Maybe an Albino Senegal would do fine with them since they don't get as big and I know Rainbows are pretty high bodied.

I don't find senegals attractive . . . I had a palmas bichir that was okay looking but it was TINY and never grew and then ended up dying randomly one day.

no, you can't keep a predatory fish that grows to about 18" long or more with a 3" rainbowfish and expect the latter to survive.
