Love Bichirs and had to sell most of my lower jaw collection after my main tank failed.

I lived with a 125g for a while and kept my Two Delhezis, Senegal, and Two albinos.

I now recently bought a 180g and Would like to keep a few 'Center Piece' Fish on the bottom.

I have one Ornate that I was going to sell but decided to keep and grow out in the 180 (hopefully for life).

What other bichirs Could I keep with the 2 Dels, 3 Sens, and 1 Ornate?

+1 might I add though that if you keep them well fed, HOPEFULLY you won't have a problem. Then again, I had a cb endli that LOVED eating sens. Ate 3 the entire time I had it. A 7" when it was 12", an 8" when it was still 12" and a 10" when it was 16"

I'd try and stay with UJ but I have 16" LJ with 5"-6" UJ so as long as you keep them fed you can have some very large size differences.

Really with your 180 if you accept the risk of canabalism you can keep any variety you want. Like Dr B I have good fortune mixing bichirs of different sizes. That said, not everyone has had the same experiences

Sen and albino sen wont get big. They might get eaten by other lower jaws or ornate when it gets to +20". If you want to keep them. I suggest you go with upper jaws only :).

Ive kept my senegal and delhezis with ornates and Endlis before with no problems and the endlis were 14"+ and albino sense only 3-4".. I was surprised they made it, i must have gotten lucky.

I've never had a bichir eat another bichir. Mine seem so dumb they have problems finding pellets haha. but they do nip what is in front of them occasionally.

I have had the same experience. My large endlis never bothered other bichirs. They all would lay at the bottom together peacefully. but again maybe I just got lucky

I too, have had good fortune mixing bichirs in the past. But I guess anything can happen as per the quote above me ^^

I have an Endlicheri that is at least 19 years old and he will eat anyone. He is always fat and happy.

Sizes can be mixed if they are well fed. Some Endlis seem to eat everything they can fit in their mouths. However, like the others are saying I've mixed 6" upper jaws with 15-16" lower jaws without problems. I currently have 10 bichirs in my 180. I'd say go for it.

I've never had a bichir eat another fish. I try to feed small pellets so they are used to small foods. But my endli had trouble even finding pellets haha

I Always keep them well fed. I feed too much lol. But I stick with carnivore instead of massivore so they aren't used to swallowing anything large, hopefully the same principle applies to fish haha
