Bichirs for a 30 gal tank

Senegal is the smallest, but it's also one of the most active... wouldn't a 30g be a bit too small for it? I agree with 55g.

She's right. Your typical polypterus senegalus from the pet store comes from stock that has been farmed so long that they don't reach their full potential sizes, and you'll see various body shapes and what not, but mainly shorter length.
There is a difference however between an active bichir, and a bichir that is annoyed by it's confined space and is swimming against the glass.

Just keep a short body albino senegal. They only max out to 4-6" and I think it will be fine in a 30g tank.
