I've been thinking of getting a giraffe cat but not sure if it will be safe, I've heard of syno catfish sucking on bichirs slime would a giraffe cat do the same?

I have 2 endlis, 1 ornate and 1 delhezi I currently have a Syndontis decorus in with them with no problems.

I know unless raised together, Plecos and some Catfish will suck on their slime coats so I would be very cautious.

However, I've never kept a Giraffe Cat so I wouldn't know their temperament.

How big is the tank and how many fish are going to be in it?

What size Giraffe Cat are you thinking about? They can get really HUGE!

The giraffe cat is about 7-8 inches its a bit of a descision cause here in oz none of these fish are cheap they are all $400-$500 each.
Maybe its not such a good idea.

Damn man, yeah for that price I probably would stay away from it, especially if I thought there might be a risk. Sorry bro.

That expensive? I saw one for 80 bucks at The fish place in buffalo. As long as your tank is big enough, I don't see why not giraffes have small mouths. Both are peaceful as long as nothing is small enough to be a meal. I have heard both sides that they are active and lay on the bottom, when ever I see them they are just laying there though.

We have several in tanks at work and they are great vacuum cleaners. We have some in the 12" range in a tank with some Mbuna and they seem to get along with everyone ok but the tank is a 300 gallon so they have some swimming room.

I've read that they're quite peaceful and can be kept with anything but I am unsure about the slow moving bichir.
It would be good to get one to turn over all the sand and turds in my tank.
