Hey guys

Relatively new Bichir enthusiast. I have a relatively small 6x2x2 tank with black gravel substrate mixed with coral sand and eco complete. A few large anubias, bolbitis, and vallisneris plants. Great filtration. Home to it is a male and female Ornate Bichir around 25cm. Hopefully with time they will breed.

I have a 16L and 70L fry tank ready.

My two questions are; will they be okay with this setup?

And two, will they be okay with a 20cm Saratoga joining them?

I know the Toga will need a bigger tank eventually. But seeing as its a top dweller and the bichirs are bottom dwellers, will the coexist peacefully?

Obviously the fry would be moved ASAP to smaller tanks.

Thanks

Should be fine. Just make sure the ornates have some good size on them. The tank is fine for ornate polys.

The aro I believe is a leichardti. So they can be aggressive so be prepared to separate in case something happens.

I had lei aro with bichirs before. The aro would go nuts chasing every time he see the bichirs darting up for air. I believe this would stress the bichirs out.
