why does everybody like bichirs so much...is there a purpose, do they clean good or ar they just pretty? i just want to know why everyone likes them..and the advanyage of me getting one

They look like aquatic snakes or dragons, they're pretty tough, and they are quite docile so you can keep them with quite shy fish assuming they are not bite sized. whats not to like? if you don't have small or super aggressive fish and a large enough tank then go for it.
You must like the fish, notn see advantage in getting one....I love bichirs for the curiosity side, they swim all the aqua, when you get close and stay there for few minutes, these little guys will come next to you just to 'check out'.
Accept almost all food (live and dead fish, sticks, sinking food), they are cute when baby, and beautiful MONSTERS when big. ;D

They're unique and very odd. They're evolutionary throwbacks. Plus, they're hardy, tough and fairly attractive. Get one and see . . .
I think they look cool, and have personality. After browsing around on here you fall in love with all kinds of fish but never actually know more then how the look and some info on them.
After only keeping a couple cichlids and bichirs, I love bichirs because I know they are pigs, they are fun to watch, have lots of personality. I personally love dropping a sinking pellet in the tank, and slowly but surely watch them sniff them out from the other side of the tank. They also notice your presence sometimes.
Like I said before, try any fish you can, and you will learn what fish you really like. Eventually you will get tired of their looks, but its their personality that makes you want to keep them for years.
