help me on this fish... tips on how to take care of this fish, and a little history will do,i have 3 of them in my isolation tank, can i join them in my african ciclihds community? are they african or american ciclihds

This one? It is the Vieja bifasciatum, they are quite variasle in color, Pic by B.Jonas, I have never kept them but here is a quick run down.
Also called twoband cichlids, they are from the Atlantic slope of Central America. They eat detritus and vegatation mainly including most algae and aquarium plants, when small will eat flakes, and as adults will take pellets but need vegetable based supplements, prefer somewhat hard water and a pH that is near neutral to slightly alkaline. Temp. range 72-82F. Can be a bit territorial and can reach as much as 12" long, at least the males can. It would be (IMO) a risk to add them to a community of Africans as they are sometimes pugnacious. All of this info is second hand.
