I'm still agonizing over the best way to get the biggest tank in my front room I can....I just got offered a decent deal on 19mm float glass. Wont be cheap, but wont be too much more expensive. Problem is they want $800 just to cut it!!!! Anyone home cut 19mm? Is it hard?

the thickest ive cut is 6mm and to be honest it was a pain to cut i wouldnt want to cut something 3x thicker especially getting a clean straight cut

as far as i no to cut glass u need to score it with the right tool then 'break' it but t breaks along the score line... for 19mm and im assuming 6ft-ish to score a dead straight line without a CNC machiene will be difficult let alone break it... try getting quotes from other people mirror manufactures / custom window people for example

easy peasy in a way. put it this way you need special cutters, and usually they are only sold to fit cnc machines. best bet is to have them cut it trust me they use a air hockeytype thing to move 500kg+ kilo peices of glass with one finger. not to mention you need to have a 3x2metre tabe to load on the glass plus 2 fellaz stroing enough to get it on. there are many techniques and tricks and to tell you the trth to much of a pita to do it. if i were you either a) haggle lower price because that is rediculous
b) get some other companies glass that is willing to cut it for free or under 100 dollars
c) get this companies glass and take it to some other company who is willing to cut for cheap
