I know he is loving it. Did you raise him from a small size? If so you took great care of him. But you ever think of getting a mate for him. BTW I have said this many times that Walmart has some of the nicest Oscar I have ever seen. They have great Markings. Maybe you can try adding a few and see if he accepts one. Maybe even use a divider until they get a little size.

Hi Jeff!!!!! Hope your doing well!!! I had Big Boy since he was little. He was 4 inches when I got him and he is now 10 inches!!!!! He is a lot of fun!!!!! I thought about getting him a friend. I heard you can keep 2 in a 125 gallon.
Really fantastic and refreshing to see an oscar housed properly. I've seen too many people put them in cramped, overstocked, underfiltered tanks. Your set up is on point. He would be one of the happiest and healthiest oscars alive thanks to your good care. If you wanted to you could put another peaceful but resistant tankmate in with him such as a severum and still be comfortably understocked. Or you could leave it as is if you have enough self-control to not by another fish for the tank (I know I would cave!) Can I ask what your water change schedule and usual nitrates are out of curiosity?
Thank you so much MC!!!!!!! I appreciate your comments!!!!! I have thought about another tank mate for Big Boy. I haven't decided on what to do. I take 25% of the water out every week. I move everything and vacuum really good!!!!! The Nitrates are usually around 10.
