I accidently unplugged my heater last week.....temp in tank dropped to 76 for about 4 days. Tank is back up to 80 and my Blood Parrot has decided to lay eggs. She chases everyone but my 3" ITTs. The face off is between my 10" Indo. She is 6-7" of tiny mouthed fury!! They bump and chase but no damage except some fins on the BP! She brightened up and went psycho....was a very harmonious tank!!

The conflict has made the Dat real stable! Quite the drama....locked in a circle, around and around.....I think the BP has some delusions about hooking up!

Dats are shy, but they are fighters.

I think my Fahaka puffer can accept my Datnoid as a tank mate because my dat fights back so the fighting stopped. Same with my Perruno catfish. My Fahaka was trying to bite my Perruno, but he fought back and now they are living together.

dats are hard! real hard actually!

I kept an AT in a tank with some central american cichlids and it held its own. The cichlids seemed more bent on chasing each other and left the AT alone.

I am actually trying to move it.....got it because i wanted something with my young aro at the time....the parrots small mouth made it harmless.....My 7 year old daughter fell in love with it!!! Only reason its still around......

You had millions of real fish to pick from and you thought that was it

Fish like that I put my foot down my fish my tank so I can do what I want then tell the kids your ken your barbie I don't tell you how to dress them

To tell the truth I wouldn't even use a shop that sells that kind of fish many good fish shops in the UK refuse to sell them and dyed fish

i would remove that parrot as there is a good change it could damage the dats mouth.
I will remove the parrot evetually....Dat is fine. Egg laying has passed and she is back to normal. I have had the BP for over two years and think she is a pretty cool fish.....Hybrids dont bother me as long as they seem happy and healthy and this fish has no problems competing in my very competitive tank. They have a bad rap for nothing.....I find no difference between BP and Bulldogs or Basset hounds....All hybrids as un-natural as can be......Look i understand there are thousands of species of fish and only 3 or 4 original dogs.....If you dont like em....dont buy em!
