Hi all,
My female motoro who is the biggest of all 4 have started going on a biting spree. It has all been good till this morning i realised that my rays had disc edges damaged. Tank mated are a gar, arowana and a much smaller datnoide. I highly doubt the aro and datnoide wld be the one biting them and neither do i think a gar will do that right, though it hangs out at the bottom most of the time. Any idea why is my female motoro doing this all of the sudden? Will she evntually stop? Thanks in advance.

Actually from my experience all those tank mates could be responsible. Unless you see the female in the act I would suspect all of them. The dats are the least likely at a smaller size, but I have had some mean ones at 6-8".

you got to feed her more and hoping she will stop, I had my big female leo did the same thing, ate two batch of my pups and chew on my pearl tail that lately I have to cut the tail off to save the ray.

How would cutting the tail off save the ray? Not following that one.

Gangrene maybe?

Back to the topic, try separating her for a while then just bring her back in just to re establish a pecking order.

Pics of the bites? my gar tagged my female retic the other day during feeding time.. had I not seen it myself I would have guessed my male was the culprit... could also be dietary issues. I've heard many rays suddenly "tweeking out" and killing tank-mates after being fine for monthes or years. Might try offering a more varied diet? wether she stops or not is hard to say.. and I agree w/ seperating her if you catch her in the act. if it is her.. I'de be worried shes going to eat your dat.
