my 20" ck is really bloated, hasnt eaten in a few days, and is breathing heavily. what to do? ive read that they can get bloated and then it passes, but im still worried.

does it look like it swallowed an orange? Mine did that and it passed in a few days. scared the hell out of me though.

I've got a pic of when mine did that somewhere. He literally got better over night though. I imagine a little salt wouldn't hurt though.

upon further inspection, his head is swollen too! he still not eating, but is swimming around and gulpin air like ck's do. still breathing heavily. what to do!?the base of his 2 side fins look red also.

Sounds like a bacterial infection. You might need antibiotics. Any pics? It's would be great to be able to see what's going on.

Some great links from Beblondie:

See bottom of post for some good meds:

thanks for the links. i tried to take pics but its hard to capture the bloating effect, esp with a 20" fish that you cant really just net and snap some pics. i too think its bacterial and will pick up some meds tommorow.

anybody have any recommendations as to a good med for my ck? tank is a 180 and it also houses a silver aro and some cichlids. need a med i can treat the whole tank with and not cost $$$$, ive had very good luck with jungle tank buddies, but cant find a bacterial one.
