I lost a flowerhorn, 2 oscars, and a big silver arowana all in the course of 24 hours. No symptoms...healthy swimming, eating, fins not clamped, normal interaction, perfect water parameters, ideal temperature...all dropped dead. No wounds, no fungus, no lesions, autopsy looked normal. I'm stumped.

nope, smells fine. I am more upset about not knowing what killed them than losing the fish...

I bet it was some other contaminant. Like bleach or some other chemical. Those can kill without there even being hardly any noticeable signs (other than the deaths). Did you use a different kind of soap on your hands, or lotion, or did someone else clean the house, other than you. Someone who might not realize the risk in using chemicals near a tank. I had this happen to me once. My brother thought it was a good idea to windex the tank. In the process of doing it he must have sprayed quite a bit in the water. It killed a couple neons then I figured it out and changed a bunch of water. Everyone else survived. I hate random deaths, UGH.

that's what i thought the most likely culprit. The tank is in the garage, and there are chemicals (albeit closed). Some might have traveled over and into the tank. However, my bichir was completely unharmed

is it possible someone treated the garage with pesticides? or maybe sprayed some air freshener?

not likely, but a possibility
