As the title states, I'm in a big dilemma here. I HATE Walmart with a passion (and my bf pretty much bans me from shopping there anyway). I know they don't care for the fish they sell there and everything looks to be in fairly poor condition BUT they are the only location near me that is carrying my favorite fish of all time: the violet goby (sometimes referred here as the dragon fish). PetSmart no longer sells them and I told my managers about the disappointment over that.
Oddly enough, all the violet gobies seemed extremely healthy compared to the other fish. So the big question is, do I try to save one from the evil corporate giant, or try my damnedest to find someone online?

You do know that PetSmart is no different right......they are a corporate giant in regards to pets....I say go for it. I'm sure they will love your tank no matter where they come from.

Well, the PetSmart I work at is actually really great with their fish. Not saying they have no problems, but they actually know about the fish they are selling and even share MFK's views about selling Red Belly Pacus and such. The WalMart (here) is actually housing Oscars with Mollies and have dead fish stuck to the filters.

Anywho, this isn't meant to be a corporate bashing thread, I'm just concerned about the survivability rate of one kept in such fowl conditions getting transferred over to a clean environment. Will it be too much of a shock? What would be the best method of introducing it to the new home (I'm guessing at drip acclimation). I plan on starting it in it's own 20 long and moving it once it gets bigger (and proves to be healthy).

If you buy them, yes you are saving the fish, but you are just giving them money to buy more..

So it's your call.

They either live, and they get more in.. or they die and get more in.
