Hi there! I love my Ellie, but have added some things together in my head. We've decided she's a lapradei, cool cool, but they get like 36"... so, is my 78x24x24 inch tank going to be big enough for her, or should I start trying to find her a home now? She's about 16 inches now and in a 48x16x16 with her warped lover the oscar as she wasn't getting food in the large tank (as it has pacu in it, but they are A) going to a new home or B) getting a pool soon, so she can go back in it) but even when everyone else is out will it be big enough for her, and when she is fully grown is she going to eat the synadontis and things?

thanks lol sorry to have rambled, if anyone wants me to clarify, let me know :)

lol, should we get out some cigars? now that would be a hybrid:ROFL:. anyway, the 78X24X24 tank is over 210gal., and that should be fine for a lapreidai (actually, you should be able to fit ms. smiley in there to) since they only get 24"-30".

Actually 18-24'' is far more common sie for a lap-Anne

agree i don't think theres a record of 36" lapradei, even in the wild. in captivity, i doubt they'll get much bigger than 24", and getting that big will take a looong time, if it'll get there at all, since they are quite the slow growers beyond a certain point. if my lapradei can reach 18"+, i'm already a very happy man :D

that's a good thing! Can't remember where I saw 36 inches lol! Her mouth wont get to much bigger will it??? lol!

her mouth will open to just about the diameter of her body-Anne

Ew, yeah. LOL! You should see them, its sick. Then suddenly they can't STAND eachother, and sulk at op sides of the tank, then next thing they are all cuddled up with eachother. Could you imagin the screwed up fish that would make? -shutters- Everyone said to keep them apart, but they both went into serious sulks, and neither ate for WEEKS, we had no idea what was wrong, so put the bichir in the spare hospital tank next to the oscar's, and they were laying against the glass together, so figured, eh, why not, same symptoms so probably same illness as they were both from the big tank, tossed them in together, its been happy days of dinner dates from then on. So weird...
