The owner of LFS told about this guy trying get rid of some larger fish. I just set up a 108 and its empty, I figured I'd take a look at what he had. Its hard to get rid of big fish around here.

He has

1 10" Oscar
1 10" Head Stander yellow & black
1 7" Green Sev
1 6" Female JD
1 6" Front
1 6" Peacock
1 12" Shovel Nose cat
3 2" cory dorys

In a 55 gallon tank with a AC 300 not working and a small fluval. There is about 5" of water evaporation. It looks like the Sev & Oscar has HITH. The Sev being the worst.

He told me he does a 10% water change every month or so. He wants $20 each or $100 for all. The Oscar is beautifull. He has to be rid of them by Friday sold or not. So you know what will happen then.

Looking at that sure takes the fun out of the hobby.

They will probably all live very short lives after being treated like that. I'd pass.

that's a shame, would prob do more harm than good to take them in at this point, don't want to ruin your setup with god knows what else that was farming in there

Fish are hardier than you realize. Take what you like and see if a LFS will take the rest for free. The front and the peacock will definately sell. A lot of people like the big leoporanis also. Just make sure you give them the room they need not like this clown did.

tell him if he is going to "be rid of them, sold or not" then he may as well do the decent thing and give them away.
he will likely say no but then that gives you grounds to go in with a much lower offer than he wants. or tell him the oscar and sev need more care so they can be the freebies when if buy the rest.
however, do this only if you can get a home for the shovel nose.

wow that seems pretty pricey to me...maybe canada prices are higher but those are all pretty ordinary fish except for the size...I have 3 beautiful 10 inch oscars i literally cant give away...lol come down to wisconsin and ill hook u up cant be that far from here!

if u feel like u can take good care of one and really like it, i would go ahead and rescue it. if u take good care of it, im pretty sure u can nurse it back to health. ive done it many times with fish in bad situations

rescue fish seem more personable, i'd take them, sell or give what i dont want to a good home and keep the rest
