Big fish, small tank

Alright so I need advice. A buddy of mine has an achara about 12" in his 180 but yesterday he found a leak on one of those edges from the silicone breaking. He has room for all the other fish in other tanks but the cat so I took him and kept him with my jardini but after about an hour the jardini starting beating the crap out of him. I then moved him into my 40B QT tank because I didn't have anywere else to put him. I have a 120 I can set up for him for the time being untill my friend re-silicones his tank but it'll take me a few days to set up.


Question is: Can I house a 12" cat I the 40 for a few days with 50% w/c every night to keep the ammonia in check? I'm not sure what else to do with him.

Alright thanks, I assumed but I wanted to get feedback on it. It was either the 40 or a standard 4' 55 but there's no way I'd stick a cat that big in such a small width.

yeah stick with the 40 and some big water changes. just check the water perameters daily and do water changesa ccordingly and you should be fine... also watch out not to feed to heavily.

Just throwing my agreement in with the other guys here. 40 is fine for a few days or even up to a couple weeks, but keep up the water changes and only do light feedings.

I think that it should be fine for a couple of days. Probably not much different from when people move across the country with fish in a cooler...
