My parachromis pair are so prolific that I quite literally had no free tanks for more fry. So, I left them in the tank, minus around 20-30 that are in a 55. Just checked on the new batch and there are none that I can see, and the bigger, older babies have very full bellies.
Female motaguesis, male loiselli
I call the offspring motaselli.

Unfortunately that is natural behavior.

I know, and it's survival of the fittest. When a pair has roughly 800+ every four to six weeks, you gotta just let stuff happen and have mass filtration.

For me I was happy the old fry ate mine with my Midas pair I had hundreds growing out lol it came to a point where I hated the pair since they kept breeding so much.

I love my pair, they've been through a lot...just wish they'd take a break! First spawn-"yay, look wrigglers!"...today-"oh, look. I was right, the big babies ate their siblings."
It's all good, at least I won't have to worry about a bio crash...not fun.

My pair bred for 1.5 years every 4 weeks and about 2-3000 fry no joke. Male was 15.5" and female about 8-9". At the end the female was just hiding and the male could only get to her tail and he killed her. She didn't want to breed anymore I guess and he got aggressive

Fish are jerks. I had a pair of dovii and two weeks after every spawn, the male would descale the female and sometimes chew her fins off. Never doing that again. The only fish I would consider trying to breed would be zonatus, and that's a dream!
