This isnt my smartest move in the world, but i was on a big time strain and needed to get my 9 babys piranhas (full size 8-9inch) and 2 11inch side suckers moved. I wont go into details just post what happened. I got a 150g tank from petsmart, got it home and started filling it. Ran home across town, prob 4 miles and got my 10g tub and filled it with the current residents of my 55g tank. I know the tank was to small for these guys, but i had planned on getting the tank a lot sooner. i get the tub home and set it down, fish are thrashing around. you know how skiddish these are. I find out im out of the stuff to make the water good to use, so i run to petsmart and grab a bottle. I come home and the tank is still filling, i dump some in and pop the top on my piranhas and there all on there sides not moving. i let out a big OH **** as i stare sadly into the tub. Thank god my gf comes out of the bedroom and looks down almost more sad than i, and we both see one of them still gasping for air. QUICKLY i grab my net and start putting them into the tank, sit down in my recliner and watch, tears in my eyes. 8 out of the 9 survived. I can look at these guys and not even know anything bad has happened to them. They get along great and eat hearty. My tank is still bair bottom thus making it so much faster to clean up the scales. I wanted to cycle the tank before hand but i just some of the old water and the old filters. took a few days for the water to clear and everything to even out. Guess i learned bigger fish use lot LOT more air in the water.
