Big lipped red devils Help needed

Ok so I got 2 devils off rapps and I put a pile of river stones (yes I treated them) in and I wanted to know if the big lips would come in and if I had to put snails and craw fish in or could I just do pellets I've put numerous posts in CA/SA cichlids and I just want a good response

I think you can try that, but i would not set my hopes very high. But no harm done in trying to keep their lipe big through grazing among the rocks.
 
are they wild caught? cause if they are wild caught and you provide them with the same condition then you have the best chance of their lips growing. But the fact that the captive bred Midevils don't get the big lips could be considered a form of evolutionary advantage as they are useless in an aquarium setting. The fact that a fish that has big lips for its natural environment loses them when bred in captivity is pretty much proof against creationism.

Your best bet for 100% chance would be to import a wild caught one that already has the lips, then put him in your tank how its currently designed and he wouldn't lost them. other than that I guess its just wait and see cause as far as I know nobody has ever tried this with any success. should definately be interesting though.

No they aren't wild caught there f1 pure red devils off jeff rapps father wc and mother f1 and it may work IMO but as said lips form due to suction and Jeff told me no one has imported WC red devils for 7-8 years even longer so how could I import WC

Well I have alot more rocks where they come from so if I have to I will make the whole tank rocks put as many snails and craw fish in as I can if I have to

Not sure if there is attitude in that last sentance or not, but I'm not supposed to know about conversations that you and Rapps had unless you tell me about them. As far as I know the only way to get a WC one would be to have it collected for you and then shipped. There are people on here that have gone on collecting trips in south and central america and they ship their fish back.

Sorry I'm not entirely sure I just remember seeing a photo thread of the trips. There has to be people in south america that will catch and import fish for you. I have a friend in Thailand who exports every breed of Flowerhorn imaginable. it's just about finding someone who could hook you up I guess
