I have a big lunker in my 300 gal tank, he is only about a foot long at most but he is already too big for my tank at that size cause of his height, weight and length combination, a red bellied pacu, their right they are not really made for home aquariums, but public aquariums, thats where mine is going soon, within one or two months.

Have you spoken to the pubic aquarium yet? It is very rare for one to take in a pet fish that out grew its tank.

yes I have they want him, its a new public aquarium and they are still building the amazon tank

The local zoo was very happy when i offered them my silver aro about 10 years ago. They had recently lost one and mine made them have a group of 3 again. And its really cool that evvery time i visit i get to see how much he has grown.

your getting EXTREMELY lucky. 99% of the people who contact zoo or aquariums to take their large fish, get turned down.

your one of an extreme minority who found their fish the best home possible. their going to be in a huge tank im sure, with quality food, care and filtration. Im willing to bet most aquariums are the next best thing to being in nature, when they have a staff that truley cares and monitors their fish.

hell, i love my pacu more than most can imagine, yet i would jump at the chance to give them to an aquarium, just so they would be in a gigantic tank that mimics their natural habitat better than i ever could.
