My gulper ate two LARGE shrimp today and his belly is just so big. hes swimming around with his mouth open gulper water is what it looks like. is he alright or is there something wrong? usually he barely has his mouth open but now he has it open and is swimming around the tank. i added a half dose of mela and pima fix...hes in a 20g hes 4-5" long and has a AC50, a powerhead and a airstone for filtration. tank temp is 80*F

How big is "LARGE"? And was it like a live feeder shrimp, or store-bought "human consumption" shrimp? If it was the former, I think you'll be fine, as shrimps meant for feeders, like "Ghost Shrimp" are very easily digested, and don't really get too big.. I can't say much about the latter since I've never really seen how big they are, or how easily they're digested.

i just tested his water its 7.0PH, 0-.25PPM Ammonia, .25PPM Nitrite, and 10-20PPM Nitrate.
What makes me think its not his stomach is his jaws are spazzing out everyonce and a while....like hes gasping for air.

Hes in the bigger tank with loaches, pikes, barracuda, jag, LSN, and 2 Sen. Hopefully his big belly will keep him satisfied till I get more waterconditioner in the AM.

that shake is him trying to digest it or push it out the rear. all my larger fish will pop their jaw and shake their rear...usually after feeding large worms and shrimp.
