So i woke up to the news that we will be moving to georgia from connecticut in 5 months. I really dont want to give up my tanks, does anyone know how to move your fish long distances safely?

Tubs/trash cans with black trash bags and some tubing with portable air pumps to keep the water oxygenated, that's if you are driving. If you are flying then you'll have to ship all of it, it'll cost you a ton to do that though, better off selling the actual tanks and getting new ones in Georgia.

Sell fish, dont trust movers with your tanks. If you do watch and instruct them on where to place it in truck, make sure its padded and taken care of...

I've driven from california to massachusetts with fish before. Especially with hardy fish like yours you should be fine. Bring rubbermaid bins, a power inverter, and air pump and a seeded sponge filter. If it takes less than a few days, don't feed them at all. If it takes longer, just feed a tiny bit after 3 days or so. The sponge filter is key here, otherwise your water will go foul very quickly. A bottle of prime will also help out just in case something goes wrong.
