I have a large outdoor pond stocked with an assortment of Africans, and koi. Usually I can only appreciate them from the top view. But every once in a while, I lose one. Don’t know why, but it really brings perspective to their size. Found this guy today. Just figured I’d share. Always forget how pretty they are.F6E06045-55F0-4762-B42E-E507DB9467CA.jpeg

Nice one!
I never knew peacocks got that big.
I notice what looks like a nuchal hump growing, pretty uncommon in Africans.

Yeah, he measured just short of 9inches. I’m sure he is a hybrid. There is probably 200 or so different Africans in there, all peacocks and mbuna. I’d say a lot of the bigger ones have a small hump. Could be just from the mixed breeding. I started with about 25 or 30 from a large tank. And over the years they’ve just multiplied.

My red zebra has a bit of a hump. Probably gonna lose it now that he lost the throne to the auratus, but still there.

I feel like the chances of it happening are higher in an all male tank. Also maybe genetics?
Could be. There aren’t any females, so it can be related. Not sure how good the genetics are though, he’s just a petsmart zebra, so I can’t say for sure he is even pure blooded.
