Buenos aires tetras are now in the genus Psalidodon, along with a lot of species that used to be in Astyanax. The data shows a bit of polytomy between anisitsi, mexicanus, and some of the other ones named after localities + REALLY small differences between them, so in my opinion there is the chance for a lump... Meaning buenos aires tetras may or may not be biotope accurate dithers to almost every cichlid in central america and the eastern half of South America. Thankfully fasciatus is definitely a distinct species, so if this lump did happen, buenos aires tetras wouldn't suddenly become illegal in a bunch of states.
