Which is more cost effective a large heater or a small heater in a tank? What I mean is would a 150w heater run a 50 gallon tank cheaper than a 200w.

run a 250w heater. even better use a inline heater if you have a canister filter. more effective. a 150w would stay on longer and in the long run cost more to operate. my 2 cents..GL

That is kind of the way I was thinking just looking for opions. Are the inline heaters common and how do they work.

0$you talking possibly, at the most, maybe $2 difference.........2-3 watts per gallon is the rule of thumb..........A 200w will definatley be awsome for 50g........

I had often wondered about that sort of thing but what will happen if heater sticks on won't it cook your fish quicker than a 150 would because we have had a few heaters that would not shut off. What stores do you find heaters that big in the biggest we can find are 300's.
