i recently bought a 500gallon 4ft tall tank :headbang2 however, being 4 ft tall i started thinking there will be alot of "dead" water with no current, this thread will go threwout the entire filtration setup... as for now i just have the sump almost built ill be posting pictures of the tank once i figure how to get it into the house and once i start running the plumbing.

the sump is 48x24x24 roughly 120 gal (i wanted it bigger but i didnt want to get more than one piece of ply. to start i fiberglassed all the corners

i had a half bucket of zavlar left over so that is what i chose to waterproof the sump and baffles with

i wanted the baffles and drip tray to be completley supported and so i took some 1x2 and glued and fiberglassed them into place to add extra support where everything will be set into place

this is just where the baffles will go, its really hard to take picts with the inside of the sump being black

its a very basic sump. 1st it will go into 2 filter socks, then will go into about 42gallon space worth of scrubbies and bio balls, then the 3rd stage of the sump will have nitrate eating house plants and be pumped back up to the tank
