I left on vacation for a month and had a friend look after my 20g. Well he did a very poor job of it. When I returned I found 5 dead fish and the tank was incredibly filthy. The fish that were still alive were swimming very sluggishly and some looked like they haven't been fed in weeks. Well maybe they hadn't.
The only fish that looked and acted normal was my 3" albino cory, what a trooper.
Anyways I cleaned the tank up thoroughly and did water changes over the next 5 days. Everyone was recovering well except one of the 3 remaining neon tetras. He swam erratically doing barrel rolls and such. One day I noticed his side just behind the gill was all red, like blood. I decided to end his suffering with a quick splat onto the pavement. That same day I found the molly laying on the bottom breathing heavily with no strength to keep swimming. No improvement by the next day, so I ended her life to.
Now today 3 days later I found one of the small albino corys laying on the bottom with the same blood like redness that the neon tetra had, same area to (right behind the gills stretching about halfway down its side). It almost looks like blood under the skin. Hes not dead yet and is laying on the bottom breathing heavily as im typing this.
What is this redness and what can be done about it before it kills off the whole tank?
I cant get a good pic right now but I will get one soon.
