I have a 180g with lots of CA/SA cichlids in, some around the 9-10" mark, what are the best larger snails to get? I do like the look of most snails so looks are important but also as a clean up crew and substrate mover.

I will be getting some java moss at some point will they eat that?

Snails are a large part of many CA/SA cichlids diets...RD's, Pikes, they LOVE snails....And no snails will not eat your moss.

So you are saying that they will probably be eaten?

My 90 gallon has a gold saum, midavil and a convict as well as a crawfish and a pleco. MY huge apple snail does fine. The midavil gets mad sometimes when the snail goes into her pot but even then all she can really do is try to suck her out to no avail.

Smaller snails on the other hand have proven to be a tasty snack.

MY apple snail is probably the size of a nice plum.

How big is the midas/devil?

If by this, you mean all snails eat plants, then this is incorrect. The following that will not eat healthy plants but will eat dead and decaying parts are Planorbis, Physas sp., Malaysian trumpet snails and Pomacea diffusa.

Not sure how saying "no, snails will not eat your moss" sounds like I am saying they do anything other than not eat moss....You lost me....

Was your original statement this one "And no, snails will not eat your moss" or the previous one? The lack of comma has actually confused me. The context used differed between how they are typed. The first one you posted led me to believe that you are saying all snails will eat the moss.

Ah, I see that now...I will try to be more grammatically consistent in the future.

No worries, Bigspizz. I sometimes end up doing that mistake.:)
