Hey guys, am building a big tank & need some specs. Its gonna be a monster about a 750/800g tank. Tank specs: 3010/Length, 1000/Width, 1000/Breadth. I need to know glass or acrylic..? Dont know weather to pay more for the glass than have issues latér with the acryli, & if glass do i get it toughened because of the volume? & what thickness would be bést? Pls let me know what û think. Shot.:headbang2

according to the this calculator
you would need 24mm glass for the height you want. That's at a safety factor of 3. You don't want to have your glass toughened. If the glass ever did brake it wouldn't just crack it would shatter into a million pieces.
Glass would be extremely heavy at 24mm thick. I have heard that there are ways to make acrylic hold better to silicone. Such as scuffing the area for the silicone or using a special primer on the acrylic. But I haven't tested any of these methods myself.

plywood tank with acrylic front would be the best option

At that depth you would need thick glass and thick glass has a tendency to have a greenish tint to it. So if you are set on that depth I would go acrylic, but I hate acrylic so I would lower the depth to something that can be handled by a 3/4" piece of starfire glass. So a max depth of around 34" more like 30" to be sure.
