i got a tank off a Buddy's friend its a 150 gallon oceanic glass tank for 60 dollars so i couldn't say no i brought it home a filled it up and it started to leak from the top corner and started tearing the seal down ward so i emptyed it fast and dryed it off scraped out the silicon and resealed it I'm just wondering is silicon really gana hold it together for bowing out and leaking again or do i need something to brace it

Silicone will hold it if it's done right and allowed to dry long enough! Think about it........ that's what most tanks are put together with!

so the moldings are just looks no support

depends on the manufacturer of the tank. Some use the molding/frame as support. If the glass is bowing in some way then there is a problem.

Word of advice don't get in a hurry. let the sealant set up for at least 5 days. I got in a hurry and had to do it 3 times before I smartened up and let the tank sit for a week and ta da fixed. Slow learner:confused: GL

HELP!!! i have a 250 gallon tank im housing my 2.5ft aba aba with. ive had no problems since almost 2 months but suddenly it began to leak. ive inspected the whole tank already and i cant see any break on the sides or the whole base of the tank... i have not moved the tank nor did i drop anything on the floor to break it... water kept on dropping but very slowly since 2 days ago. i noticed there were ants on one side. can these ants actually nip on the silicone? how do i "properly" apply the silicone if ever? or should i have the tank resealed with silicone by the manufacturer? pls advise. thanks in advance...

Is the Tank under waranty with the Manufacturer? it sounds like a bad seal

Could water be splashing up (fish/filter/bubbles) and dripping or following tubing/pipes down the tank?

Tape pieces of paper towel at different levels of the tank and around tubing to help locate problem leaks.
