I was just wondering how you people out there with HUGE tanks make water changes of like 25% like once or twice a week? Lol this is kinda stupid but like it just seem kinda like it would almost run up the water bill and be like really time consuming?

time consuming? Lol...i feel u. but ur fish swims in the water it shets in! just do 30% every 2 weeks if u want. but just make sure u dont skip any of em!

Pythons make quick work of water changes. As for the bill, it's part of the hobby.

Some even have auto changers or have them piped in so it's just the flip of a few levers and it does it that easily.

Ya i got you and also like im guessing you take out the water than put in new water i guess?

yea but make sure u use amquel to detoxify the tap water.

I do a weekly water change of at least 50% to 90% once or twice a week. I
make myself do it due to the fact of how much waste they produce and the diseases that it can cause. After you've had the bloat do to a hexamita outbreak it's not a problem at all if you know what I mean.

thats too much of a water change...you'll stress out your fish more that way. just do 40% MAX a week.

water will get really cloudy and poopy if you do anything less than that.
especially if your overstocked lol.

No such thing. Now if it's a tank that's gone forever without a water change and the wc causes a massive pH swing or something of that sort, you got a problem. As long as the biofilter is maintained during a massive wc and the new water has similar parameters to the old tank water, everything should be just fine. Depending on how I have a tank stocked (I tend to ride the overstocking line ;) ), I normally do a minimum 50% wc
