I acquired two Cubans a few months ago, about 1 inch apiece in length. In about nine months in the same tank, one is 6-plus inches, the other about 2.25. I assume they are siblings, and one has outcompeted the other for food. The larger one has killed off the dithers and had a similar size chocolate cichlid backed behind a decoration within a day of placing them together. Yet the larger just kind of shoos the smaller one from time to time.

Theories? Food and water conditions seem OK.

I am raising up four from about an inch in November. 3 of them are 3inches and female according to some threads I read here. One is real small nd hides in the corner. the little one eats and everything.
