Just like the title puts it, im looking for ideas for sa/ca cichlids getting kinda big but can still live in a 40 gal for life. Was thinkin like convicts, Tbar, firemouth but would love other suggestions thanks

The CA/SA profile thread lists a 40breeder as OK for a single Jack Dempsey, which I shall be doing soon, though he's still under an inch so sharing the space with a convict for now :3

laetacara species stay small.keyholes,HRP,panamesis.kribensis is great for that tank, but they are african

The 36x18 footprint of a breeder is nice but does still limit you. I am currently working on stocking a 56g column (30x18x24) and am looking at stocking options which will include a 4" male convict who had a 29g all to himself for awhile now. I am considering thorichthys pasionis instead of the typical firemouth that most get. Probably some school of Buenos Aires tetras and a small cat of some sort like a hoplo.

I think a dovii would go great in a 40gal  A large convict pair could be cool use the babies for food, but thats just be cause that what i do haha
