I know some metynnis live to 20 years and beyond, and some get really big. Just hoping some of you have big, old inspirational SD's to show off. I keep thinking about buying some, and talk myself out of it because I really just don't have the room. So help me out, here. Can I get a dose of the shiny stuff?

This one is pretty old... previous owner had it for about 5yrs I believe...

Thank you!

Here's a weak shot of my Schomburgkii, they are only about a year old and most of that time was spent at the LFS, in my possession for about 2months.

biggest is about 4" disc

Got some big and old ones for you. They are all about 6-8" and the oldest is about 17 years. Had him 5 or 6 years and previous owner said he was 11 or so when I got him and the tank. The others are around 6-7 years I believe.

Sorry for the bad phone pic, one of these days I'll get a camera.

I was at a local fish store the other day and they had a tank with about 10 full size silver dollars. They were probably 8"-9" in diameter, very big and very impressive.

To be honest though, they get uglier as they get bigger, and they tend to develop "scars". The ones at the store also weren't very shiny. With their pale white skin with scars it makes them look kinda like sharks though.
