Hi guys i recently bought a 80x40x40 cm tank (31,5x16x16 inches) but i dont really know which fish im going to get.
Since im not an expert id like to know which Are the biggest fishes i can fit in my tank, obviously i have no problem if that fish is going to be the only One in the tank.
Thank you

Not really with a cube like tank. In general, big fish 10"+ should get at least 48" in swim length. The largest active fish would be no more than 6" in total length.

What fish do you have in mind?

I dont have any fish in mind at the moment.
So i should look at a 5-6” fish?
I dont really know about the species, any suggestion?

So your tank is essentially mine with 20cm less on length.
Pearl Gouramis worked quite well for me.
My mothers angelfish reject also does quite well.
Maybe a group of one of those 2, some tetras, cories and something like a red-tail shark for a typical community style tank?

I would go with a small-medium sized cichlid. A pair of blue acaras could share that tank. A lone male convict would fill out that tank.

If you want a community type setup, you could go with some small cichlids like bujurquina, nannacara, laetacara with some other tankmates maybe.

According to the last analysis of my water company,my water is mildly hard.
I dont have a precise value though.

Central American fish would do fine. Something like a pair of convicts (or if you can source their cousins. C. nanoluteus), and a bunch of dither fish like platies, mollies or guppies. A single firemouth would do fine with dither fish.

The firemouth is really nice.
Which dithers would you suggest?
