I know what the packaging recommends for usage but how does this translate into the real world? I just took possession of 10 gallons of 1" bio balls and wondering if I should get more.

What are some of your recommendations for gallons of 1" diameter bio balls per gallons of water.

Specifically a 300 gallon tank. Let me know if you need more info.

PS. I live in a small town and don't have time to travel to the city to hunt scrubbies. ;)

Do you have a dollar tree in the big city? They will have pot scrubber in large quantity. For 300 gallons I'd have at least 15 gallons of bioballs, personally I'd do 20 gallons in a w/d. The pot scrubbers have approximately 3 times the surface area, and as such will take much less space.

I've never heard of Dollar Tree but I just typed my zip into their website and there IS one in the City.

I'll have to give them a call.

If I got 5 gallons or so of scrubber to add to the 10 gallons of bio balls would you put the scrubbers on top or on bottom? Or does it really matter?

Sounds good, thanks for your help !
