BIO BALLS?? HAVE YOU SEEN BIO CUBES?!

So I was suppose to buy some bio balls, and my LFS told me I should try some of his Bio CUBES! I said: "wtf? what are bio cubes?" then he showed me these(pictures below) and told me that these are better, because unlike bio balls, they are cubes and can be intact and save much more space. So, what do you guys think?

I think that they would fit better in rectangular canisters like rena filters but they probably wouldnt fit as well in the round canisters.

I know right? I was shocked and amaze to see that there were cube types of bio balls hahaha!

But can you explain why you'd still use a bio ball?

these cubes cost around $25 for 100 bio cubes.

The space between bio balls prevent the water from finding streaming paths through the media. Bio Cubes would have to prove to have similar properties to get me to switch. The smaller the drops of water the better the O2 exchange.
