I'm currently taking down my 300 gallon reef tank it just cost him much money with lights pumps calcium reactor etc.... And I'm switching back over to a planted tank with an arowana and a few other fish but my main question is I have a ton of ceramic media blocks and balls I've used for my reef tanks over the past 4 to 5 years they're all in great condition little chips here and there but still get the job done I was hoping I could rinse them off really well in freshwater and be able to reuse them in the new setup and yes I know the new beneficial bacteria will have to grow on them all over again but I just want to know if anyone has had any experience with this.

I see no reason why you cant. Just do a really good job rinsing so any die off doesn’t cause a huge spike in ammonia (not sure if it would).

Agree
Since bio-blocks and bio-balls are simply inert surfaces and objects for bacteria to live on, they can be interchangeable.
My current system was bought used from a reefer, and I used all media on my planted tank.

And as an aside
a friend who is a reefer used to religiously change out his light bulbs every 6 months, and would give the old ones to me for my planted tanks, they always had plenty of life left in them for my plants.
