Hey people, been into fish for awhile now and my gf is always nagging me to start up a salt water tank. While at petsmart, looking at kitties, they had a Bio Cube 29gallon tank for 40% off. Small but pretty tank. So with that said give me your advice; Good for a salt water setup? What could I stock it with? Anything helpful! ( I know very little about salt water setups) Thanks!

I personally would not start my saltwater tank with a biocube. If you know what you are doing and do a lot of research on starting a saltwater tank then yes they can be good enough I have seen quite a number of beautiful saltwater biocubes. Personally though I would start with no less than a standard 55g with a 29g sump underneath with protien skimmer. I have a beautiful 120 gallon reef, but still struggle with my 20g saltwater it is just much more difficult to keep parameters in check on a small tank.

agreed. i'm no expert, but generally speaking, the larger the tank, the more "forgiving" so to speak. evaporation in a 29g tank is going to affect the specific gravity more so than the same evaporation in a 55. nano tanks/cubes have become the new thing, and when done properly can be awesome. but they do require a lot of attention. I've been wanting to do one for some time now, but have been doing research upon research as i've never kept a saltwater tank before.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. But okay my next option is when I move my current freshies into a bigger tank and after converting it (46G) to a SW tank, what would be some unique fish for it?
